Ministry of Public Health of Thailand published Proclamation No. 435 "Quality Standards for Food-grade Plastic Containers" in the Thai Government Gazette. This regulation repeals Proclamation No. 295 of Ministry of Public Health. The regulations shall come into force on the date of publication. The regulation is outlined below:
1. The definition of terms: "food-grade containers", "food-grade plastic containers", "food-grade recycled plastic containers".
2. Specified types and quality standards of food-grade plastic containers. Specified the plastic types used to contain milk and dairy products, and the specific categories of referred dairy products in category lists. Established quality standards for containers made from food-grade recycled plastics.
3. Stipulate the requirements for food grade containers and labels.
4. Two annexes are attached to the regulations.
Annex I stipulated overall migration limits, metal diffusion limits, Primary aromatic amines(PAAs) limits and specific migration limits for food-grade plastic containers.
Annex II sets out quality standards for food-grade plastic containers and for diffusion.
5. List of safety assessment documents required to be submitted in accordance with the quality standards of food-grade plastic containers but not in accordance with the requirements of Annex I of the regulations.
