More than 90 percent of Vietnamese cassava exports goes to China

The export of cassava and cassava products is expected to continue to increase in the coming period due to the strong demand in the Chinese market, Vietnam's Commerce and Industry Daily reported on June 16.  
   
According to statistics from Vietnam's General Administration of Customs, in May 2022, Vietnam exported nearly 260,000 tons of cassava and cassava products, up 10.6% month on month, up 22.7% year on year;  Exports amount reached $114.09 million, up 8.6% MOM and 33% from the YOY.  The average export price of cassava and cassava products was 438.8 USD/ton, down 1.8% MOM, but up 8.4% YOY.  In the first five months of this year, a total of 1.45 million tons of cassava and cassava products were exported, amounting to us $630.98 million, up 3.7% and 19.3% year-on-year respectively.  

For cassava alone, cassava exports were 74,130 tons in May, up 0.3% month-on-month and 8% year-on-year.  Exports were 22.36 million US dollars, down 3% MOM and up 21.3% YOY.  The average export price was $301.7 / ton, down 3.3% month-on-month but up 12.3% year on year.  In the first five months of this year, cassava exports reached 467,27 tons and 136.66 million US dollars, down 17.3% and 5.4% year-on-year respectively.  
   
In May this year, the export of cassava and cassava products to China accounted for 93% of Vietnam's total export, reaching 241,670 tons, up 17.6% from the previous month and 26.2% from the same period last year.  Exports reached 105.19 million US dollars, up 14.8% from the previous month and 36.2% from the same period last year.  
   
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam exported 1.33 million tons of cassava and cassava products to China, with exports reaching 578.14 million US dollars, up 2.2 % and 18.1 % year-on-year respectively.
