Codex Alimentarius Commission to revise testing methods for cereals, pulses and soy products

On 15 June 2022, the CODEX Alimentarius Commission (CODEX) issued consultation document CL2022/44-MAS, seeking comments on the revision of testing methods for cereals, pulses and soy products. The feedback period is up to 1 August 2022.  Major amendments include:  

(1) Some detection methods were revised and deleted after reviewing various approximate analysis methods, such as the determination method of crude protein in plant protein products, ash determination method ICC104/1-900℃, fat determination method CAC/RM55- method 1, etc.;  
 
(2) Moisture content is often required to be corrected in the determination of ash, protein and fat content, and the corresponding moisture determination method has not been nomitated yet. It is necessary to evaluate whether the moisture determination method should be specified or determined by the testing personnel themselves.
