Vietnamese passion fruit has been allowed to be imported into China since July 1

 According to the news released by the National Animal and Plant Health, Epidemiology and Quarantine Advisory Office (SPS) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam on July 1, The General Administration of Customs of China has just issued a document accepting to import Passion fruit from Vietnam on a pilot basis starting from July 1.  
   
Passion fruit exported to China must meet requirements on packaging specifications, pest control, planting area codes and archival preservation to ensure product quality and food safety, according to the General Administration of Customs.  
   
China's General Administration of Customs also suggested that Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperate in conducting sample inspections of exports.  In addition, passion fruit production process must comply with VietGAP, GlobalGAP and other good agricultural practices.  
   
Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will submit a list of passion fruit exporters to China's General Administration of Customs every year.  The list will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs after approval.  
   
China's agreement to import Passion fruit from Vietnam is the result of long-term negotiations and efforts by Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote market opening.  
   
Passion fruit is one of the 10 most valuable fruits exported from Vietnam in 2021.  In the past five years, Vietnam's passion fruit production and exports have both increased by more than 300%.  With the growing area and yield of passion fruit, especially in the Tay Nguyen region, the profit of passion fruit per hectare can reach 350 million to 400 million dong.
