On 26 July 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued import Industry Advisory Notice 129-2022 to change the validity of import licence for fresh garlic intended for human consumption.
From 15 August 2022, the import licence for fresh garlic for human consumption will be valid for two years instead of one, provided the department is satisfied that the import conditions have been met and the cargo meets Australia's appropriate level of protection.
