On July 29, 2022, the General Directorate Of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Turkey issued Notice No. 479 to revise the Standards for Olive Oil and olive residue oil. The main contents of the revision are as follows:
(1) Revise the definition of olive oil and olive residue oil;
(2) The delta-7-stigmastenol content of crude olive residue oil and refined olive residue oil ranges from 0.5% to 0.7%, sitosterol content is less than 1.4%. The delta-7-stigmastenol content of refined olive oil and Riviera olive oil (a specific origin olive oil) ranges from 0.5% to 0.8%. β-sitosterol content/(rapeseed sterol content + delta-7-stigmastenol content) >24;
(3) The transition period for existing products is proposed to end on December 31, 2024. The comment period for this announcement ends on September 2, 2022.
