South Korea has issued a partial revision list of Labeling Standards for Functional Healthy Foods to modify the labeling method of functional ingredients of probiotic products

On August 12, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Notice No. 2022-59 to revise part of the Labeling Standard for Healthy Functional Foods. The main contents are as follows:
 
1. Modified the labeling of allergens : For the safety of consumers, labeling of allergens or possibly mixed allergens should be displayed on the information display page.

2. Modified the location label: For the convenience of consumers, the location where the return service is offered might be marked.
 
3. Modified the labeling method of functional ingredients (probiotic number ) of probiotic products: When labeling the dosage or daily intake of functional ingredients (or index ingredients) of probiotic products, the numbers and Korean characters should be labeled in parallel or in Korean. For example, 100,000,000 (100 million) CFU/g or 100 million CFU/g.
