Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia: Willing to increase coffee exports to Russia

September 3 (Sputnik) -- Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia Alemayehu Tegenu Aargau told Sputnik news agency that coffee prices are expected to rise due to poor harvests in Asia and Latin America. Ethiopia will increase its coffee exports to Russia if Russian demand increases.

Experts at the FoodNet working group of Russian National Technology initiative told Sputnik news agency earlier that the problems of the Latin American and Asian coffee harvests had already affected costs in the world market and would soon affect Russian market prices as well, possibly by about 30 percent.

"If there is demand in Russia, there’s no problemwe for us to scale up," Tegenu notes.

Tegenu added: "This has happened before, where the coffee harvest was lower than expected and then the price went up. Everything is normal in Ethiopia, coffee production continues and producers are ready to export coffee to any country."
