By the end of 2024, Russia's total pork supplies to China may exceed 50,000 tons, Russian media reported, citing data from a study by the Agricultural Bank of Russia.

Analysts at the Agricultural Bank of Russia noted that in the future Russia's pork exports to China could grow to 500,000 tons per year.

According to the study by the Russian Agricultural Bank, by 2030, Russian pork supplies to China could meet one-third of China's growing demand for pork by 2030.

“By 2030, China's pork consumption is expected to surpass the 31 kilograms per person mark, an increase of almost 1 kilogram from 2023,” the report states.

In September 2023, China lifted the African swine fever restrictions it had imposed on Russia since 2008. By the end of February 2024, China certified the qualifications of three Russian companies to supply pork to China. The first shipment of Russian pork arrived in mid-April 2024 in China.
