September 24, 2024, TASS - The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has considered a proposal of a Russian initiative to introduce labeling of beer and beverages made on its basis according to uniform rules in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to the document, the Eurasian Economic Union member States will determine on their own the date and procedure for introducing the regulation of labeling of means of identification of such products in their territories and will notify the Eurasian Economic Commission at the latest six months in advance. According to the message, given that in some countries of the Union such goods belong to the category of dutiable commodities, additional requirements may be set at the level of national legislation for the labeling of goods on physical carriers containing means of preventing counterfeiting and conveying the information that excise duties have been paid in full.

In addition, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has decided to develop harmonized rules for the labeling of bioactive additives to food (nutraceuticals), which are subject to labeling regulation for a broad list of food products, which have an existing certificate of national registration issued as nutraceuticals. The Eurasian Economic Commission has clarified that member States have the right to determine for themselves the date and stage of introduction of the means of product identification for labeling in their territories and to notify the Eurasian Economic Commission at the latest six months in advance. Thus, each country in the Eurasian Economic Union will ensure the recognition of the means of identification of other countries formed in accordance with the harmonized requirements.
