EAEU introduced new rules for monitoring residue levels of veterinary drugs in livestock products

September 22, 2024 - The Russian Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision Agency (RVPSA) has informed that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has introduced new rules for monitoring the level of veterinary drug residues in livestock products.

  

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) adopted Decision No. 70 amending the technical regulation on food safety, which entered into force on July 10th. The new requirements apply to oil and fat products, milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, fish and fishery products. The amendments establish residue requirements for residues of veterinary drugs in imported products that are not registered in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), a list of MRL drugs has been established that includes amoxicillin, and the amendments stipulate that the level of amoxicillin in meat must not exceed 0.05 milligrams per kilogram.

 

The transition period is until January 10, 2026, and at present, manufacturers and sellers can produce products in accordance with the old technical regulations.
