The European Union's agricultural output value reached 449.5 billion euros in 2021, an increase of 8% over the previous year. The overall price increase of agricultural products and services accounted for 7.5 percent of the total factors. The output volume was basically on the same level compared to 2020, with a year-on-year growth of only 0.8 percent. In terms of each member states, the countries with the highest agricultural output value in 2021 are France (€82.4 billion, accounting for 18% of the EU total), Italy (€61.2 billion, 14%), Germany (€59.2 billion, 13%), Spain (€57.1 billion, 13%), the Netherlands (€30.6 billion, 7%), Poland (€27.9 billion, 6%) and Romania (€21.1 billion, 5%). Agricultural output increased in most EU member states in 2021 compared with 2020, with Spain up 10% year on year, France and the Netherlands up 8%, Italy and Poland up 6% and Germany up 3% among the major members.
In 2021, 55% of EU agricultural output came from crops (248.7 billion euros, up 13% year on year), 36% from animals and animal products (163.1 billion euros, up 3%), and the rest from agricultural services and other activities.
