On 20 December, the Ministry of Food and Drugs (MFDS) of South Korea released the method for the detection of tritium in food and the limit of tritium in food, the main contents of which are as follows:

1. Scope: Applicable to the detection of tritium radioactivity in aquatic products.

2. Principle: After decomposing aquatic products using a high temperature combustion furnace, tritium is collected and distilled, and detected using a liquid scintillation counter, with a detection limit of 50 Bq/kg.

3. Total tritium in food for infants and young children <1000 Bq/kg, and other food <10000 Bq/kg. Other food refers to all food other than food for infants and young children (infant formulae, grown-up formulae, complementary food for infants and young children, special formulae for infants and young children, infant formulae, grown-up formulae, raw milk and dairy products, ice cream type).
