On January 2, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued a partial amendment to the Law on Labeling and Advertising of food products. The main contents are as follows:
The Ministry of Food and Drug and local governments advised relevant operators, such as restaurants, not to use the Prime Minister's order on drugs and use similar signs or advertisements; Provide cost support to operators who make changes to signs and advertisements as suggested; The amount of fine for improper labeling or advertising will be increased from the previous amount equivalent to the sales amount of the relevant food to less than twice the amount of the sales amount of the relevant food; When imposing a fine, the content, extent, time, and number of violations should be taken into account.
The implementation date of the above is July 3, 2024.
