EU approved changes to the traditional terminology of the wine industry

On February 28, 2024, the European Commission published Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/735, approving the amendment of traditional terminology in the wine sector in accordance with Article 115 (2) of Regulation (EC) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The main changes are as follows:

 

(1) Approve amendments to the traditional term "Viejo" published in the Official Journal of the European Union. In general, Viejo means aged wine;

 

(2) This Regulation shall enter into force on the 20th day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The Regulation is fully binding and directly applicable to all Member States.
