Thailand has recently issued regulations on food products derived from genetically modified organisms

Ministry of Public Health of Thailand published Notice No. 431 "Food Derived from Genetically Modified Organisms" and Notice No. 432 "Labelling of Food Derived from Genetically Modified Organisms" in the Thai Government Gazette.  Both regulations take effect on December 4, 2022.  
 
1. "Food derived from genetically modified organisms" stipulates the relevant definition of GM food, GM food quality standard, the safety assessment of GM food standard, in addition to the food listed in annex I of regulation ”Food Derived from genetically modified Organisms and food passed the safety assessment of genetically modified food, other genetically modified foods are banned for import , production or sale.  
 
2. "Labelling of Food Derived from Genetically Modified Organisms"repealed Announcement No. 251 of the Ministry of Public Health. It stipulates that GMO derived foods shall comply with the regulations on GMO derived Food products announced by the Ministry of Public Health and Thailand general Pre-packaged Food Labeling regulations, as well as GMO labeling information and other requirements depending on the specific situation.  Under the regulation, pre-packaged food labels in Thailand must not mislead consumers with slogans such as "GMO free".
