Chile to formulate sanitary requirements for import of animal fats products

On June 24, 2022, Chile's Ministry of Agriculture issued a consultation document to formulate sanitary requirements for the import of animal fats products. Specific contents include:

(1) The products must be accompanied by an official health certificate issued by the health authority of the country of origin, indicating the name of the manufacturer, product label, quantity and net weight, batch number, production date and expiration date, name of the exporter and consignee, label of the means of transport and other information;

(2) The animal fat is from poultry, pigs, horses or a mixture of the above single fat, and the raw animal is slaughtered in the slaughterhouse under the control of the official veterinarian, and the slaughterhouse meets the requirements of the health authority of the country of origin in terms of facilities, equipment and hygiene control;

(3) Oil and fat producers should be registered within the Chilean Ministry of Health and do not process ruminant raw materials;

(4) Requirements for packaging and transportation of imported products.

The feedback period for consultation document is until July 24, 2022.
