Norway issued regulations on the management of areas affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza

On 23 June 2022, Norway issued the Regulations on the Management of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Epidemic Areas. The main contents include:  
 
(1) Objective and scope: to prevent the spread of avian influenza to birds and human beings, applicable to the management of avian influenza epidemic areas;  
 
(2) Control measures in the epidemic area: it is forbidden to raise poultry and other birds in outdoor facilities in the epidemic area;  In other facilities where poultry and other captive birds are kept, individuals must wash their hands and equipment before and after touching birds.  Separate footwear or shoe covers must be used when contacting birds or in their living areas;  All distribution of water and feed to poultry and other captive birds should be carried out in confined spaces. Drinking water from surface reservoirs without protection from birds and other animals is prohibited for captive poultry or other birds.  It is forbidden to use outdoor water reservoirs for purposes other than drinking water for poultry or other captive birds. It is forbidden to keep ducks and geese together with other birds, etc.;  
 
(3) Administrative supervision: the competent authorities shall supervise and punish the implementation of the Food Law.  

The regulation comes into effect as of the date of promulgation.
