EU revises regulations on official control of Trichinella in meat

On 23 August 2022, the website of the European Commission (EU) published document No. 202/1418 amending Regulation No. 2015/1375 (i.e. regards Trichinella control in relation to cutting of carcases and alternative analytical methods), which came into force 20 days after publication. The main contents of the revision are as follows:

(1) Provide for the further division of the carcass into 6 or more pieces pending the results of post-mortem examination of Trichinella items. Restriction on thermal cutting for the production of specific products got removed ;

(2) Updated the reference detection method of Trichinella project in pork products.
